A quick guide to abreviations and terms used in my blogs.

Other Abbreviations or Terms 

BFL - Body For Life - Awesome exercise and eating plan guaranteed to get you in shape. See website.
EFL - Eating for Life - Cookbook also by Bill Phillips that is full of authorized meals.
FF - Fat Free
Free Day - One day a week, eat whatever you want all day long with no guilt.
GWO - Girls Weekend Out - Quarterly get togethers with the girls. Also used to refer to the girls in the group (D. E. H. and J.).
HIIT - High Intensity Interval Training - Method of doing 20 minute cardio workouts. (see BFL).
LB - Lower Body Workout
UB - Upper Body Workout

Pregnancy - Fertility Related Terms and Abbreviations 

2ww - 2 Week Wait - Refers to the stressful waiting time during the lutal phase after ovulation waiting to take a pregnancy test or for AF
AF - Aunt Flow - Your period
Annovulation - The absence of ovulation.
bbs - Breasts
BBT - Basal Body Temperature - Waking Temperature
BD - Baby Dance - Intercourse for the purpose of acheiving pregnancy
BFN - Big Fat Negative - Negative Pregnancy Test
BFP - Big Fat Positive - Positive Pregnancy Test
Biphasic - A temperature chart that shows a pattern of relatively low temperatures in the preovulatory phase of the cycle, followed by a higer postovulatory level for about 12 to 16 days, until the next menstruation.
CD - Cycle Day - Refers to what day of your menstrual cycle you are on
CM - Cervical Mucus - The secretion produced within the cervix that acts as a medium in which sperm can travel. It's presence and quality is directly related to the production of estrogen and progestrone.
CF - Cervical Fluid - see CM
CP - Cervical Position - The term used to describe one of the three primary fertility signs. Refers to three facets of the cervix: its height, softness, and opening.
Cervix - The lower portion of the uterus that projects into the vagina.
Corpus Luteum - The yellow gland formed by the ruptured follicle after ovulation. If the egg is fertilized, the corpus luteum continues to produce progesterone to support the early pregnancy until the placenta is formed.
Coverline (CL) - A line used to help delineate pre- and postovulatory temperautres on a fertility chart.
D&C - Dilation and Curettage - A surgical procedure used to scrape the surface of the endrometrium with an insturment called a curette.
DH - Dear Hubby - Your spouse
DOC - Days of Cycle - How long your menstrual cycle lasts
DPO - Days Past Ovulation
Ectopic Pregnancy - The implantaion and development of a fertilized ovum outside the uterus, usually in the fallopian tube.
EDD - Estimated Due Date - Date baby is due
EDO - Estimated Day of Ovulation - Range of days ovulation is expected
EDP - Estimated Date of Period - When next period is expected
EWCM - Egg White Cervical Mucus - The most fertile type of cervical fluid a woman produces. It typically resembles raw eggwhite and tends to be clear, slippery, and stretchy. It usually appears in the 2 or 3 days preceding ovulation.
Endometiosis - The growth of endometrial tissue in areas other than the uterus.
Estogen - Increasing estrogen levles in the first part of the menstural cycle produce significant changes in the cervical fluid and cervix, indicating fertility.
FAM - Fertility Awareness Method - A means of determining your fertility through observing the three primary fertility signs: waking temperature, cervical fluid, and cervical position.
FF - Fertility Friend - Free Charting website
Follicle - A small fluid-filled structure in the ovary that contains the egg (ovum). The follicle ruptures the surface of the ovary, releasing the ovum at ovulation.
FSH - Follicle-stimulating hormone - The hormone produced by the pituitary gland that stimulates the ovaries to produce mature ova and the hormone estrogen.
HcG - Human chorionic Gonadotropin - Typically referred to as the "pregnancy hormone." It is produced by the developing embryo when it implants in the uterine lining. Its main action is to maintain the corpus luteum and hence the secretion of estrogen and progesterone until the placenta has developed sufficiently to take over hormonal production. (Hormone detected in Home Pregnancy Tests).
HPT - Home Pregnancy Test
Implantation - The process by which the fertilized egg embeds in the uterine lining (usually 7-10 days after ovulation).
Kegal Exercise - An exercise to contract and relax the vaginal muscles in order to strengthen them.
LH - Luteinizing Hormone - A hormone from the pituitary gland that is released in a surge, causing ovulation and development of the corpus luteum.
LMP - Last Menstural Period - The first day of your last menstrual period.
Luteal Phase (LP) - The phase of the menstural cycle from ovulation to the onset of the next menstruation. It typically lasts from 12 to 16 days, but rarely varies by more than a day or two within individual women.
Miscarriage (M/C) - The spontaneious loss of the embryo or fetus ffrom the uterus.
Missed Abortion - A fetus that has miscarried, or died, but has not emerged naturally.
Mittelschmerz - Ovulatory Pain
O - Ovulation
O-Day - Ovulation Day
OPK - Ovulation Predictor Kit
Ovulatory Pain - Lower abdominal pain occurring around the time of ovulation.
Peak Day - The last day that you produce fertile cervical fluid or have a wet vaginal sesation for any given cycle. It usually occurs either a day before you ovulate or on the day of ovulation itself.
Perineum - The membrane between the vulva and the anus that remarkably stretches during childbirth to allow a baby's head to emerge through the vaginal opening.
PG - Pregnant
PMS - Pre-Menstrual Syndrome - A collection of physical and emtional signs and symptoms that appear during the postovulatory (luteal) phase and disappear at the onset of menstruation.
POAS - Pee On A Stick (Take a home pregnancy test)
Post-O - Post Ovulation - Luteal Phase
Progesterone - A hormone produced mainly by the corpus luteum in the ovary following ovulation. It prepares the endometrium for a possible pregnancy. It is also responsible for the rise in BBT, and for the change in cervical fluid in the postovulatory infertile state.

Temperature Shift - The rise in waking temperature that divides the preovulatory low temperatures from the later, postovulatory high temperatures on a biphasic chart.
Triphasic - A temperature shift pattern that usually reflects a pregnancy. About 7 to 10 days after the first thermal shift, a second, more subtle shift often occurs due to teh effect of the pregnancy hormone, HCG.
TTC - Trying to Conceive
